President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has defended civilian taxpayers, arguing that six taxpayers are required to support one serviceman.

Quote: "I would like to defend civilians a little. When you realise what sort of financial contribution is needed to support our soldiers, we all have to understand that their salaries are paid by our people, our population, people who pay taxes. When we talk about this or that mobilisation, we should know that one warrior means six people in civilian life who pay taxes.

So take 500,000 people, multiply by six, and understand that I, the government, and all of us need to find an additional three million taxpayers starting in January."

Previously: Zelenskyy said that the General Staff of the Armed Forces has suggested mobilising an additional 450,000-500,000 people, which will cost Ukraine UAH 500 billion (US$13.4 billion).
