Russian forces made 21 attempts to break through the Ukrainian defences on the Novopavlivka front on Saturday, 9 March, with Ukrainian forces repelling 11 Russian assaults on the Avdiivka front.

Details: Over the course of the day, Ukraine’s Defence Forces clashed with Russian troops 58 times. Russian forces carried out 3 missile strikes and 61 airstrikes. They also deployed multiple-launch rocket systems (MLRS) 70 times to attack the positions of Ukrainian troops and civilian settlements.
There were no significant changes on the Volyn and Polissia fronts.
On the Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna fronts, Russian forces carried out an airstrike in the vicinity of Hraniv (Kharkiv Oblast). Around 40 Ukrainian civilian settlements came under Russian mortar and artillery fire, including Yeline, Baranivka, Bleshnia and Buchky (Chernihiv Oblast); Volfyne, Katerynivka, Zapsillia and Porozok (Sumy Oblast); and Huriv Kozachok, Hatyshche, Vovchansk, Bochkove, Budarky and Ambarne (Kharkiv Oblast).
Russian forces did not undertake assault operations on the Kupiansk front, but their aircraft struck an area near Synkivka (Kharkiv Oblast). Russian forces also deployed mortars and artillery to attack more than 10 settlements, including Dvorichna, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Ivanivka and Berestove (Kharkiv Oblast).
Ukrainian forces repelled 6 Russian assaults in the vicinity of Terny and Spirne (Donetsk Oblast) on the Lyman front, where Russian forces attempted to break through the Ukrainian defences. Russian aircraft struck areas in the vicinity of Bilohorivka (Luhansk Oblast) and Novosadove, Terny, Yampolivka and Mykolaivka (Donetsk Oblast). Russian forces deployed mortars and artillery to attack around 15 civilian settlements, including Nevske and Bilohorivka (Luhansk Oblast) and Terny, Torske, Verkhnokamianske, Spirne and Rozdolivka (Donetsk Oblast).
On the Bakhmut front, Ukrainian forces repelled 5 Russian assaults near Andriivka, Bohdanivka and Klishchiivka (Donetsk Oblast), where the Russians made attempts to improve their tactical positions. Russian forces carried out airstrikes in the vicinity of Bohdanivka, Chasiv Yar and Druzhba (Donetsk Oblast). Around 10 civilian settlements, including Mykolaivka, Vasiukivka, Bohdanivka, Chasiv Yar, Ivanivske and New-York (Donetsk Oblast), came under Russian mortar and artillery fire.
Ukrainian forces also repelled 11 Russian assaults near Berdychi, Orlivka, Tonenke and Pervomaiske (Donetsk Oblast) on the Avdiivka front, where the Russians carried out airstrikes in the vicinity of Oleksandropil, Novooleksandrivka and Novobakhmutivka (Donetsk Oblast). Russian forces deployed artillery and mortars to attack around 15 civilian settlements, including Prohres, Vovche, Zhelanne, Myrnohrad, Novohrodivka and Umanske (Donetsk Oblast).
On the Novopavlivka front, Ukraine’s Defence Forces forces are continuing to hold the Russians back near Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka and Novomykhailivka (Donetsk Oblast), where aircraft-supported Russian forces made 21 attempts to break through the Ukrainian defences. Russian aircraft struck areas in the vicinity of Krasnohorivka, Maksymilianivka and Vuhledar (Donetsk Oblast). Over 20 civilian settlements, including Krasnohorivka, Berestky, Kostiantynivka, Antonivka, Katerynivka, Zolota Nyva and Blahodatne (Donetsk Oblast) came under Russian mortar and artillery fire.
On the Orikhiv front, Russian forces assaulted Ukrainian positions in the vicinity of Robotyne and to the west of Verbove six times. Around 20 civilian settlements, including Malynivka, Huliaipole, Mala Tokmachka, Novoandriivka, Mali Shcherbaky and Prymorske (Zaporizhzhia Oblast), came under Russian artillery and mortar fire.
Within the area of responsibility of the Odesa Operational Strategic Group of Forces on the Kherson front, more than 20 civilian settlements, including Kherson, Osokorivka, Beryslav, Odradokamianka, Tokarivka, Antonivka and Stanislav (Kherson Oblast), came under Russian artillery fire.
Over the course of today, Ukrainian aircraft carried out airstrikes on 8 clusters of Russian military personnel, weapons and equipment. Units of Ukrainian Rocket Forces and Artillery struck a cluster of Russian military personnel, weapons and equipment, an electronic warfare system, and an air defence system.
