Electricity shortages in Ukraine could last for next two years – energy expert
Ukrainians will have to live with a shortage of electricity for the next two years, even if some of the damage to power generation facilities is repaired.

Kharchenko said there is a clear shortage of generating capacity in Ukraine. However, high-voltage networks across the country are in better condition.
Quote: "Unfortunately, there is no quick solution for the problems with generation. Even if some of the equipment that was damaged can be repaired and rebuilt in the near future, in general, my personal forecast is that we will [have to] live with a shortage of electricity for the next two years, and this will be a normal state for the Ukrainian energy system," Kharchenko said.
Background:
- Ukraine does not have enough electricity generation and import capacity to cover consumption, and rolling blackouts were introduced in some oblasts this morning.
