The Ukrainian Azov Regiment, after it was labelled as a "terrorist organisation" in Russia, declared that the world community should recognise the Russian Federation as a terrorist state.

Source: Statement by the Azov Regiment; Andrii Biletskyi, the founder, first commander of the Azov Regiment, on Telegram

Quote from Azov Regiment: "After the public execution of prisoners of war of the Azov Regiment in Olenivka, Russia is looking for new reasons and explanations for its war crimes. The Supreme Court of Russia labelled the Azov Regiment as a ‘terrorist organisation’."

This sorry excuse of an empire, which every day threatens to destroy the world with nuclear weapons, whose president urged "to kill in the toilets" [this phrase was said by Putin on 24 September 1999 when he was commenting on the events of the Second Chechen war and bombardment of Grozny. Responding to journalists, he said, "We will chase terrorists everywhere. At the airport - at the airport. So, excuse me, we will catch them in the toilet, we will kill them in the toilet, eventually, this question is finally closed." - ed.], which blew up houses with its own citizens and suffocated its own and Syrian women and children with poisonous gas, must be punished once and for all.

We call on the US State Department and authorised bodies of other states that consider themselves civilized to recognise the Russian Federation as a terrorist state."

Details: At the same time, Biletskyi reiterated in his post that the Azov Battalion has not existed since 2014. The Azov website states that on 17 September 2014, the Azov Battalion was reorganised and expanded into the Azov special purpose militia regiment of the Ministry of Internal Affairs by the order of the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. Later, the Azov Regiment became part of the National Guard of Ukraine

Biletskyi considered the decision of the Russian Federation [to label Azov Regiment as a "terrorist organisation"] as an excuse to cancel the existing agreements on the exchange of prisoners of war and to justify its own war crimes.

Quote from Biletskyi: "Even Russian propagandists have not found a single terrorist attack or war crime committed by any of the Azov units in all 8 years. The whole world sees Russia's terrorist attacks and war crimes every day. Russia does not need to look for terrorists outside its borders."

Previously:

  • The Supreme Court of Russia has labelled the Ukrainian volunteer Azov Regiment as a "terrorist organisation" and banned its activities on the territory of the Russian Federation.
  • Recently, the Russian Embassy in the UK tweeted that the killing of the soldiers of the Azov Regiment was justified and that the Azov fighters "deserved a humiliating death".
