Details: Ella Pamfilova, Head of Russia’s Central Election Commission (CEC), declared that the presidential elections "for the first time in the history of the new Russia will take place in such a toxic geopolitical atmosphere."

At the same time, she stressed that Russia’s electoral system "has a margin of safety for the proper conduct of presidential elections."

Pamfilova also added that starting on 8 December, the CEC will take three days to review the draft resolution on voting in the presidential elections.

It has been reported that Russia’s Central Election Commission is to decide by 12 December on the possibility of holding Russian presidential elections in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.

Pamfilova said that the CEC would be able to decide on holding or not holding a vote only after consultations with the FSB, the Ministry of Defence and other departments.

She also said that during the presidential elections in March, remote electronic voting will not be used abroad because it is "risky and could completely disrupt online voting."

In Russia, online voting will be only possible in those regions where it has already taken place. Pamfilova said this will be in no more than 30 federal subjects of Russia.
