According to the National Corps: "After nearly 100 civilians, who had been freed from under the rubble by Azov Regiment soldiers, were evacuated from Azovstal, Russian troops are once again storming the plant, which they have relentlessly shelled and bombarded up until that point.

Heavy fighting is currently underway at Azovstal, where hundreds of civilians and hundreds of wounded defenders still remain, none of whom have been evacuated to date, which is against international humanitarian law. We need to take urgent action to save them!"

Details: The press service reported that the relatives and friends of the soldiers defending Mariupol gathered in central Kyiv and called on the world to take part in demonstrations in front of the UN and Red Cross offices, as well as the embassy of Turkey and the embassies of other countries that could act as third-party guarantors. They demand that civilians, wounded soldiers, and the entire military garrison be evacuated from the Azovstal plant in the besieged city of Mariupol.

Earlier: Ukrainska Pravda reported earlier that Russian troops have been storming the Azovstal plant in the besieged city of Mariupol for two days now. Ukrainian soldiers and civilians who have not yet been evacuated remain in the plant’s bunkers.

On Wednesday, 4 May, Russian troops entered the territory of the steel works, which they had been shelling and bombarding until then. Heavy fighting continues at Azovstal. Earlier, there was no communication with the Ukrainian soldiers in Azovstal.

On the evening of 4 May, Davyd Arakhamiia, Head of Ukraine’s negotiating delegation and Head of the Sluha Narodu party [Sluha Narodu, or the Servant of the People, is President Zelenskyy’s political party], confirmed that Russian troops have entered the territory of the steel works.
