Ukraine will exist so long as there is someone to defend it – Commander-in-Chief on Volunteer Soldiers' Day

Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, has congratulated the volunteer soldiers who are defending Ukraine on the Day of the Ukrainian Volunteer Soldier.

Details: Syrskyi stressed that when planning their attack on Ukraine, the Russians knew they were at an advantage, but did not take into account one thing – the spirit and will of the Ukrainian volunteer soldiers who rose to defend the nation.

After all, people who were once teachers, doctors, students, entrepreneurs, athletes and IT specialists made their choice and went to defend Ukraine's independence.

In particular, Syrskyi recalls the long queues at the military enlistment offices in Kyiv in February 2022, when the influx of volunteers was so large that the number of soldiers able to be moved to the front lines was limited more by the processing speed of the recruiters than the logistics of the army itself.

Quote: "Looking at those queues, the realisation sank in: the Russians would not be able to hold their planned victory parade in Kyiv. Not in three days, and not in three months. Never. They have made a mistake again, dragging themselves and the whole world into a terrible war that will certainly end in the defeat of the aggressor; the defeat of Russia.

I thank all the volunteer soldiers! It is with a heavy heart that I bow to the fallen volunteer soldiers. We will not forgive the enemy for any death.

I also thank all future volunteer soldiers. I thank those who will join the army tomorrow, the day after tomorrow or in a month. I thank you for considering positions in the army, for looking for a position for yourself, for being concerned about how to join in the defence of Ukraine. We will do our best to find a place for each and every one of you that suits your skills, abilities and capabilities.

Remember that Ukraine will exist for long as there is someone to defend it."
