Ukraine's PM discusses joint defence enterprises with Estonian president

Denys Shmyhal, Ukraine's Prime Minister, and Estonian President Alar Karis discussed the formation of joint defence enterprises on Wednesday, 3 April.

Details: Shmyhal recalled that Karis was one of the European leaders who visited Ukraine immediately after the liberation of Kyiv Oblast two years ago.

Quote from Shmyhal: "Ukraine requires more weapons to drive Russia out of all its territories. We value Estonia's participation in military support initiatives. We are increasing our own weapons production. In this context, we raised the issue of developing joint defence enterprises."

Shmyhal and Karis also discussed Ukraine's European integration and Euro-Atlantic aspirations.

"Ukraine should be a member of the EU and NATO. We rely on Estonia’s support," Shmyhal emphasised.

Denys Shmyhal arrived in Estonia on Wednesday for an official visit.

On Tuesday, it was reported that Estonia had expressed an interest in taking part in a Czech-led initiative to purchase ammunition for Ukraine.
