Zelenskyy announces meeting of chiefs of general staff to discuss security guarantees
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that chiefs of general staff will meet on 5 January to discuss details of security guarantees in the air, on land and at sea.

Quote: "5 January – there will be a meeting of the military; chiefs of general staff will meet. The key thing is security guarantees for Ukraine. Politically, almost everything is ready, and it is important to work through every detail of how the guarantees will function in the air, on land and at sea if we manage to end the war. And that is the key goal for all normal people."
Details: Zelenskyy has also said a leaders-level meeting will take place on 6 January involving European leaders from the Coalition of the Willing.
"We are preparing now to make the meeting productive, to ensure there is more support, and to ensure there is greater political confidence both in the guarantees and in the peace agreement," the president added.
Background:
- French President Emmanuel Macron said that a meeting of countries from the Coalition of the Willing will take place in Paris in early January, where they plan to finalise each state's concrete contributions to the system of security guarantees for Ukraine.
- On 30 December, Zelenskyy said Ukraine needs legally binding security guarantees from the US. He said that during his meeting with US President Donald Trump, he discussed possible options for an agreement on security guarantees for Ukraine.
