After the ceremony for National Flag Day on August 23, President Petro Poroshenko will head to the contact line to meet ATO service personnel.

The head of state informed about this when raising the flag on Sofiyska Square in Kyiv, Ukrinform reports.

"Right from here, from St. Sophia, I am going to the frontline, to congratulate those who are the main guarantor of our freedom, democracy, and national independence on the occasions of National Flag Day [today] and the 25th anniversary of our Independence [tomorrow]," the President said.

He said that a large tranche of military equipment and weapons will be sent to the positions of the Armed Forces on Tuesday, August 23.

"The new Ukrainian Army was born in heavy, grueling battles. It is strong not only with its powerful patriotic spirit, which was there at the start, but now also with powerful weapons, equipment and professionalism," the President said.
