The night between June 23 and 24 in Avdiivka industrial area was reportedly tough for the Ukrainian military, as militants bombarded their positions with 120mm mortars and other large caliber weapons, Ukrainian servicemen commented to Ukrayinska Pravda.

"The shelling started at approximately 10 p.m. We were shelled by rocket propelled grenades, anti-tank guns, and 82mm mortars," the servicemen told. After midnight, the militants started firing larger mortar shells – 120mm and even larger. Some 74 shells were fired in total," they informed.

"Later on, the shelling stopped and their subversive group tried to penetrate our positions. Without telling details, everything ended at 4 a.m., and the subversive group stepped back, caught by the dawn," the servicemen reported. "Two of our soldiers suffered minor injuries, and some of the militants were injured, too," they added.
