Background:

Mykhailo Podoliak, Advisor to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, believes that the rate of Russia’s "demilitarisation" in regions that share a border with Ukraine will continue to grow in the coming weeks.

The governor of the Belgorod oblast (region) of the Russian Federation, Vyacheslav Gladkov, reported on the morning of 27 April that at 3:35 a.m. he "woke up from a loud sound similar to an explosion." He later found out that an ammunition depot had caught fire near the village of Stara Nelidovka. There were no civilian casualties or any damage to residential buildings and houses.

Subsequently, the governor of the Kursk region of the Russian Federation, Roman Starovoit, said that on the night of 27 April, residents of Kursk heard a "bang" - allegedly the sound of triggered air defences.

Two other explosions were documented in one of the districts of Voronezh in Russia.
