Vyacheslav Gladkov, Governor of Belgorod Region of the Russian Federation, reported that,  according to preliminary information, an ammunition depot was on fire in the village of Stara Nelidovka.

According to Gladkov: "I was in touch with Denis Zolotukhin, Head of Golovino village. According to preliminary information, an ammunition depot is on fire near the village of Stara Nelidovka."

Details: Gladkov added that "residential buildings or houses were not damaged. There are no casualties among civilians."

The fire was eventually extinguished.

According to Interfax, villages in Belgorod Region near the state border with Ukraine "have been shelled from the Ukrainian side on numerous occasions since 24 February."

  • On the morning of 1 April Russian media reported that a fire occurred at a fuel depot in the Russian city of Belgorod, near the border with Ukraine.
  • Vyacheslav Gladkov, Governor of Belgorod Region, stated that the fire occurred after an airstrike by 2 Ukrainian helicopters which entered Russian territory at low altitude.
  • Ukrainian Ministry of Defence responded that Ukraine is not responsible for all events or disasters that take place on the territory of the Russian Federation, such as the fire at the fuel depot in Belgorod.
