Details: The situation is particularly difficult in Chernihiv Oblast.

The local electricity company has been forced to implement rolling power outages across three queues simultaneously. The company added that emergency repair efforts are ongoing, and power engineers are doing everything possible to restore power to all consumers as quickly as possible.

Background:

  • Russian forces hit an energy facility in Nizhyn, Chernihiv Oblast, leaving 4,500 consumers without electricity.
  • Russian attacks also struck a thermal power plant, seriously damaging equipment and injuring two power engineers.
  • President Volodymyr Zelenskyy previously stressed that Ukraine would be prepared for all challenges arising from Russian strikes on the energy sector. However, today it is difficult to predict what will happen next.
  • Ukraine is said to have established a network of battery storage systems at secret locations to maintain a power supply during attacks and mitigate long-term outages.
