Quote: "Emergency response to Russia's strike on the energy sector continues at numerous critical infrastructure facilities. It was a cynical and calculated attack – over 450 drones and more than 30 missiles targeted everything that sustains normal life, everything the Russians want to deprive us of. At the moment, more than 20 people across the country are known to have been injured – all are receiving the necessary assistance. Sadly, a child was killed in the attack in Zaporizhzhia."
Details: Zelenskyy reiterated that relevant teams in Kyiv are working to restore electricity and water supplies.
"There are power outages in Kyiv, Donetsk, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Kharkiv, Sumy, Poltava and Odesa oblasts, as well as in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. The city of Zaporizhzhia and oblasts of Kirovohrad and Kherson are also recovering after the attack. All relevant services are working to restore infrastructure. Emergency workers are operating wherever needed," Zelenskyy said.
According to Zelenskyy, civilian and energy infrastructure remain the main targets of Russian strikes ahead of the heating season. In the meantime, he believes the world can unite to protect people from this terror.
"What's needed are not empty words but decisive actions – from the United States, Europe and the G7 – in delivering air defence systems and enforcing sanctions. We expect a response to this brutality from the G20 and from all those who speak of peace but refrain from taking real steps. The world can defend itself against these crimes, and doing so will certainly strengthen global security. I thank everyone who is helping," Zelenskyy concluded.
