Vance advises Ukrainians and Russians to "trade and travel" instead of "killing each other"
US Vice President JD Vance has said he believes that Ukraine and Russia should trade and engage in "cultural exchanges" instead of fighting.

Details: Vance was discussing how the Trump administration might use its economic leverage to end wars worldwide.
"We've got eight peace deals at this point. We're working on number 9 and number 10. And I think that if he gets number 10, purely for mathematical harmony, the Nobel [Peace] Prize should be awarded to Donald J. Trump," he said.
The US vice president described Trump as "a tough guy, but he's not a violent human. He's not a person who understands violence at a sort of fundamental level."
Quote: "Why, rather than Russia and Ukraine killing one another, why don't they actually engage in some commerce with one another, travel between the two countries, engage in some sort of cultural exchange? That is his fundamental perspective that he takes into these things."
Background:
- JD Vance's comments came as several US media outlets reported on a new peace plan that has apparently been approved by US President Donald Trump.
- The plan would reportedly require handing the whole of Donbas over to Russia. Ukraine would also have to limit its weapons arsenal, halve its army, and accept Russian as a second state language.
