On the night of 13-14 November, Kyiv Zoo suffered damage to windows and structures from a blast wave during a Russian combined strike on Kyiv. An African spurred tortoise and a spectacled caiman sustained minor injuries, while a muntjac deer named Mo suffered a serious head injury and a fractured lower jaw.

Details: Mo has undergone surgery and is now recovering well.

"The chances of survival were only 50-50, but thanks to timely surgery and professional care from veterinarians, this little deer's life was saved," the zoo said.

The muntjac is currently undergoing rehabilitation, receiving medication and necessary procedures to support his recovery.

"The most critical week is behind us. The postoperative period passed successfully, and with each passing day, confidence grows that Mo will fully recover," said Kyiv Zoo director Kyrylo Trantin.

Mo has been put on a special diet since the surgery and is being fed a steamed grain mix, soaked alfalfa pellets and finely chopped hay.

"We wish our brave ward a speedy recovery!" the zoo wrote.
