Ukraine confirms strike on Russian drone and missile component plant in Cheboksary

Ukraine has confirmed that its defence forces struck the VNIIR-Progress plant in the Russian city of Cheboksary – a company that manufactures navigation equipment and components for cruise and ballistic missiles – as well as military targets in temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine on the night of 25-26 November.

Quote: "On the night of 25-26 November 2025, units from Ukraine's defence forces struck, among other targets, the VNIIR-Progress plant, which manufactures navigation equipment and components for cruise and ballistic missiles, in Cheboksary, [Russia's] Republic of Chuvashia. Hits on the plant's premises have been recorded, followed by a fire at the facility."

Details: The General Staff clarified that the VNIIR-Progress plant produces GNSS receivers and antennas for the GLONASS, GPS and Galileo satellite navigation systems, particularly Kometa-type modules used in Shahed-type one-way attack drones, Iskander-M and Kalibr missile systems and UMPK guidance kits for converting unguided bombs into precision-guided munitions.

The extent of the damage inflicted is being clarified.

Quote: "In addition, Ukrainian drones have struck a command post belonging to a unit from Russia's 58th Combined Arms Army in temporarily occupied Vasylivka [in Zaporizhzhia Oblast], a Tor-M1 surface-to-air missile system in Mariupol, brigade-level ammunition depots in Ocheretyne and Kamianka in temporarily occupied parts of Donetsk Oblast as well as a cluster of enemy personnel on the Pokrovsk front."

Background: Earlier, Oleg Nikolayev, head of Russia's Chuvash Republic, said on 26 November that Cheboksary, where the VNIIR-Progress plant is located, had come under a large-scale drone attack. The plant manufactures Kometa receivers, which protect Russian drones from Ukrainian electronic warfare systems.
