Czechia delivers all 1.8 million rounds of ammunition to Ukraine

Czech President Petr Pavel has stated that the goal of supplying Ukraine with large-calibre ammunition has been achieved.

Details: Pavel said that he had promised to deliver 1.8 million rounds of large-calibre ammunition to Ukraine's defenders this year.

"I am glad to confirm that we have fulfilled this goal today," he added.

Background:

• Earlier, Pavel said that Czechia should continue to support Ukraine not only for ideological reasons but also for practical ones.
• He made the statement amid discussions by parties forming the future governing coalition about the need to review Czech support for Ukraine.
• Tomio Okamura, the Speaker of the Czech Chamber of Deputies and leader of the far-right SPD party, said that he supports ending all financial transfers to Ukraine, as well as the Czech initiative to supply ammunition.
• Czech citizens largely support continued humanitarian aid to Ukraine, while their attitude towards supporting refugees and supplying weapons to Kyiv is more mixed.
