Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, responding to a statement by US President Donald Trump about a recent conversation with Vladimir Putin, said that the last time the Kremlin leader spoke with the US president was "relatively recently".

Quote from Peskov: "It was [the conversation between Trump and Putin – ed.] relatively recently. It was when – in fact, look at the date of the last official report on a phone call. Overall, yes, it was relatively recently."

Details: The Kremlin spokesman said that there had been no phone conversations between Putin and Trump since then.

According to information published on the Kremlin's website, the last phone call between Trump and Putin took place on 16 October.

Earlier, answering journalists' questions, Trump said that he had recently spoken with Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin.

In particular, journalists asked Trump whether he had spoken directly with Putin recently. The US president gave a brief affirmative answer: "Yes, I did."
