Journalists show aftermath of Ukrainian drone attack on Russia's Novorossiysk port
Journalists of the Russian service of Radio Liberty have published a satellite image of a pier in the port of Novorossiysk showing the site of a sea drone attack on a Russian Varshavyanka-class submarine.

Details: The Russian service writes that "satellite images … show that the explosion occurred several dozen metres from the submarine".
They add that the image dated 16 December clearly shows the damage the pier sustained as a result of the explosion. At the same time, the submarine remains in its place.
"Assessing the real damage that may have been caused to the submarine from satellite images is difficult, but they make it possible to assume that there was no direct hit by a drone on the hull of the submarine. Russia claims that the drone did not cause any damage to the submarine or its crew," Radio Liberty adds.
At the same time, OSINT analyst Harbuz, analysing a higher-quality photo, states that the strike hit closer to the bow of the submarine.
Background:
- The day before, the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) reported that, for the first time in history, it had blown up a Russian submarine with Sub Sea Baby drones. According to the service, the strike was delivered on the submarine while it was in the port of Novorossiysk.
- The SSU said that the submarine sustained critical damage and has effectively been put out of action as a result of the explosion. On board the submarine there were four launchers for Kalibr cruise missiles, which the Russians use for strikes on the territory of Ukraine.
