Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU) has released new data on foreign technological equipment used by Russian defence industrial base companies.

Details: DIU said the data concerns 50 pieces of foreign industrial equipment involved in the production of weapons and military hardware in Russia.

Among the identified equipment are hydro-abrasive cutting systems manufactured by PTV, a Czech company. These are used by companies involved in the production of naval and coastal radar stations as well as equipment for Russia's Strategic Missile Forces and security systems for military facilities.

The list also includes a JVM-360LS CNC milling machine produced by the US company JET Tools, which is used by a manufacturer of components for Kh-101 cruise missiles, as well as a TAYU TY-200S plastic injection moulding machine from a Chinese company, operated by a firm producing guidance systems, targeting equipment and all-weather reconnaissance systems.

DIU noted that Russian military-industrial companies actively use leasing schemes to obtain foreign equipment instead of purchasing it directly. Ukraine's intelligence agency stated that this practice helps conceal the end user and serves as one of the methods for circumventing sanctions.

Defence Intelligence stressed that global equipment manufacturers should introduce continuous monitoring and control over where their products are deployed in order to prevent their technologies from being used in war and destabilising activities.

At present, the Instruments of War section of the War&Sanctions portal contains data on 1,454 pieces of foreign equipment used by 181 companies within Russia's war industry. Work to identify such equipment is ongoing.

Background: DIU reported earlier that 23 of the 41 companies affiliated with or managed by Uralvagonzavod – Russia's main producer of armoured vehicles – are not under sanctions.
