Ukraine to receive Spanish air defenсe radar capable of detecting targets at 460 km range
The Spanish government has approved a contract to supply Lanza radar systems to Ukraine.

Details: The contract concerns the Lanza LTR-25 radar along with logistical support, intended to reinforce Ukraine's air-defence capabilities.
The Lanza LTR-25, developed by the Spanish company Indra Sistemas, is a mobile, long-range tactical 3D radar station operating in the L-band for early detection of airborne targets, which is designed for air surveillance and integration into air-defence systems.
A three-coordinate (3D) radar determines distance and direction in three dimensions. Unlike a two-coordinate radar, which provides only range and azimuth, a 3D radar also measures altitude. This enables 3D radars to pinpoint an object's location, altitude and flight path.
The system is capable of detecting and tracking aircraft, drones and other airborne targets at a range of up to about 460 km, operating under active electronic warfare conditions and supporting "friend-or-foe" identification systems.
The system is mobile, can be deployed quickly and integrated into allied air-defence command-and-control networks.
The estimated value of the agreement is €37 million. The contract will run from the moment it is signed until 31 December 2026, without an option for extension. The decision does not specify how many Lanza LTR-25 radars will be supplied to Ukraine.
Background: It was earlier reported that the German company Hensoldt, which produces radars for the IRIS-T SLM air-defence system already operating in Ukraine, is ramping up production due to rising orders. In 2025, the company received a contract worth more than €340 million to supply TRML-4D radars to strengthen Ukraine's air defence.
