Quote: "The water supply situation is also complicated. Kyiv's right bank is operating at reduced pressure. The left bank is temporarily without water – around 3,500 residential buildings. We expect the supply to be restored during the day."

Details: Kuleba also noted that 5,635 apartment buildings in Kyiv – around 46% of the capital's housing stock – remain without heating. Twelve residential buildings have had no heating since 9 January as a direct consequence of the attacks, the minister said.

"To speed up the work, 40 emergency repair teams from Ukrzaliznytsia [Ukraine's state-run rail operator – ed.] and 20 teams from other regions of Ukraine have been deployed. They are working around the clock together with municipal services," he added.

Background:

  • A large-scale Russian attack has caused disruptions in the power and water supply in Kyiv. The city's left bank has been left without power.
  • Earlier, it was reported that 5,635 high-rise apartment buildings in Kyiv have been left without heating as a result of the Russian attack on the night of 19-20 January. The left bank of the city also has no water.
  • Kyiv has been hardest hit by the Russian strike and a significant number of residential buildings remain without heating.
  • Power engineers have already restored electricity to 162,000 homes following the latest Russian attack on Kyiv, but 173,000 families are still temporarily without power.
