Russia intensifies attacks on energy infrastructure in Donetsk Oblast, with over 10 facilities damaged daily
Russian forces have significantly stepped up attacks on energy infrastructure in Donetsk Oblast in January. Over 10 facilities are damaged every day, greatly complicating repair efforts.

Quote: "Compared with previous months, the volume of bombs and missiles hitting our energy facilities is now extremely high. Over 10 of our facilities are being damaged or destroyed every day.
The overall situation in Ukraine also affects conditions in our region."
Details: Asinenko noted that repair crews have an enormous workload, but the main challenge remains security. Constant Russian attacks prevent teams from quickly repairing damaged infrastructure.
He also cited recovery figures from last year. Power engineers in Donetsk Oblast restored around 2,400 facilities throughout 2025. In addition, 2,100 km of overhead power lines and 63 km of underground lines damaged by hostilities were repaired.
Quote: "We go out and work in areas where active fighting is ongoing. Even when it is farther from the line of contact, it is still extremely dangerous to work anywhere in our region.
There are security risks and sometimes we have to wait until the attack stops, but we still go out and do the job."
