All unverified Starlink terminals will be disconnected in Ukraine, defence minister says

Ukraine's Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has announced the gradual introduction of a system that will allow only authorised Starlink terminals to operate in Ukraine.

Quote: "In the coming days, we will publish instructions for Ukrainian users on registering Starlink for verification. Unverified terminals will be disconnected.

The registration process will be simple, fast and convenient for users. Detailed instructions will be published shortly."

Details: Fedorov also thanked Starlink and SpaceX for their cooperation.

Background:

• On 25 January, Serhii "Flash" Beskrestnov, an adviser to Fedorov on technology-related matters, reported that Starlink is probably being used by Russians on Shahed attack UAVs.
• On 30 January, Elon Musk responded to a request from Fedorov for help in addressing the problem of Russian attack drones using Starlink satellite internet.
• It later became known that SpaceX had taken countermeasures against the use of the Starlink satellite internet system on Russian attack UAVs.
• On 1 February, Musk noted that steps taken to prevent Russia's unauthorised use of Starlink satellite internet had likely been effective.
