Belgorod reports serious damage to energy infrastructure after strikes

Russia's Belgorod Oblast Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov has reported serious damage to energy infrastructure in the city of Belgorod.

Details: Gladkov said that the city of Belgorod and the surrounding district had come under what he described as a "large-scale attack by Ukrainian forces".

"Early reports indicated that energy infrastructure facilities had been significantly damaged. Emergency and operational services are assessing the scale of the damage. Information about the consequences is being confirmed," he wrote.

The Telegram channel Pepel Belgorod reported that the Belgorod Thermal Power Plant had been hit by a missile strike.

Another strike, according to early reports, targeted the Frunzenskaya power substation. It was also reported that there had been no large-scale blackout in Belgorod and the surrounding district following the strikes.

Background: Five municipalities in Russia's Bryansk Oblast and parts of the city of Bryansk were left without heating and electricity following attacks on energy infrastructure.
