Details: Telegram channel Baza, citing sources, claims that from this date Roskomnadzor will begin "total blocking of messenger", similar to Instagram and Facebook (owned by Meta, which is designated as extremist and banned in Russia).
According to Baza sources, Telegram will stop working across the entire territory of Russia via mobile internet and Wi-Fi.
"The agency has nothing to add to previously published information on this matter," Roskomnadzor said.
The agency stepped up measures to slow Telegram on 10 February. According to Kommersant, the time needed for the service's domain to process requests has doubled. The regulator promised to continue restrictions if the company does not place servers in Russia and "does not comply with Russian legislation".
