Quote: "For the first time, Ukraine has set itself the goal of comprehensively influencing the situation on the African continent and protecting its national interests in this part of the world.
Ukraine must reinforce its status as a competitive and influential geopolitical actor, assert its agency worldwide, and thereby advance its economic, security, and other interests in every part of the globe."
Details: The meeting identified priority African countries for Ukraine in the Maghreb and sub-Saharan regions.
Participants also outlined the nations, international organisations and regional blocs whose financial instruments Ukraine can use for its work on the continent.
Following the meeting, participants agreed on a draft action plan and recommended it be submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers for consideration, after which relevant agencies will receive implementation tasks.
Background: Over recent years, European countries and the United States have expelled hundreds of Russian diplomats. A significant number of them were in fact officers of Russian intelligence (GRU and SVR) operating under diplomatic cover.
