Details: Early information indicates a fire broke out on the facility's premises – igniting primary oil processing units and two storage tanks.

The result of the strike and the extent of damage caused are being established.

Ukrainian forces note that the Kirishi refinery ranks among the three largest oil refineries in Russia. The plant has an installed processing capacity of approximately 20-21 million tonnes of oil per year and accounts for over 6% of the total oil refining output of the state.

The plant's capacity is used to produce a wide range of petroleum products, including fuel used to meet the needs of Russia's armed forces.

Background: Russian social media channels and local authorities reported that on the night of 25-26 March, drones attacked Russia's Leningrad Oblast, where the Kirishinefteorgsintez refinery is located.
