Details: During a visit to Hungary, Vance stated that he considers it unreasonable for Ukraine and Russia to haggle over "a few square kilometres".
"The vice president, with all due respect, does not take part in the negotiations between the US and Ukraine and Russia. And I think that if he and other officials were involved in these negotiations, they would probably... have a deeper understanding of what a 'patch' is, what... Ukrainian territory, independent Ukrainian territory, is," Zelenskyy said, commenting on Vance's remarks.
He stressed that among Russia's goals is the occupation of territory and this goal has always existed in one form or another.
Commenting on the negotiation process regarding the settlement of the Russo-Ukrainian war, Vance questioned the reasonableness of a dispute over "haggling over a few square kilometres", apparently hinting that Kyiv should make territorial concessions.
Prior to this, Vance once again praised Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán for his position on Ukraine.
