UN Security Council to meet over Russian strikes on Ukraine

The UN Security Council will meet on Monday 20 April to discuss the latest Russian strikes on Ukraine.

Details: According to the Security Council secretariat, Ukraine requested the meeting following Russia's combined attack on Dnipro and other cities on 14 April.

Mohamed Khaled Khiari, Assistant Secretary-General for the Middle East, Europe, the Americas, Asia and the Pacific, and Joyce Msuya, Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, are expected to brief the Council.

Countries that supported Kyiv's request include Denmark, France, Greece, Latvia, Liberia and the United Kingdom.

The Security Council meeting is scheduled to begin at 15:00 (22:00 Kyiv time).
