Details: Karakayev told Putin that on 12 May a successful launch of the new heavy liquid-fuel intercontinental ballistic missile Sarmat had taken place.

He added that the test results confirmed the "correctness of the design and technological solutions".

According to Karakayev, the system "reliably overcomes existing and future missile defence systems", and its launch facilities will significantly enhance Russia's strategic nuclear forces.

Putin said that it is "the most powerful missile system in the world".

Quote from Putin: "The total yield of the warheads delivered is more than four times greater than that of any existing most powerful Western analogue."

He said that by the end of 2026, Sarmat will be placed on combat duty in the Uzhur formation (Krasnoyarsk Krai).

The Kremlin ruler added that the missile's range could exceed 35,000 km. According to Putin, it can fly not only along a ballistic trajectory but also along a suborbital path.

He also claimed that the Oreshnik system could be equipped with nuclear warheads.

The Russian Defence Ministry posted video footage of the missile test.
