Kyiv declares 15 May day of mourning

Kyiv has declared Friday 15 May a day of mourning in memory of those killed in the large-scale Russian attack on the capital, which has so far claimed seven lives.

Details: The mayor said flags on all municipal buildings will be flown at half-mast on this day, and it is also recommended that state flags on buildings of state and private ownership be lowered to half-mast.

In addition, all entertainment events are prohibited in the city on 15 May.

Klitschko added that clearing of rubble at the damaged building in the Darnytskyi district of the capital is ongoing. Seven deaths are currently confirmed. Rescue workers are continuing the search and rescue operation.

Background: On the night of 13-14 May, Russia launched a combined strike on Kyiv. As of 14:45, eight people are known to have been killed, including a 12-year-old child, and 44 more have been injured. According to the State Emergency Service, 20 more people are still missing.
