Zelenskyy highlights potential for stronger Ukraine-Serbia relations

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said after speaking with his Serbian counterpart Aleksandar Vučić that both leaders see potential for the development of relations between Ukraine and Serbia.

Details: Zelenskyy said he and Vučić discussed bilateral relations between the two countries.

More details: Zelenskyy added that Taras Kachka, the designated representative of the Ukrainian government and Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, will be working in Belgrade in the coming days.

Quote: "We are counting on mutually beneficial agreements, including on resuming negotiations on a free trade area with Serbia."

Background:

Vučić described his conversation with Zelenskyy as "open and constructive".
Relations between Kyiv and Belgrade have been complicated because of Serbia's traditionally pro-Moscow stance.
It was reported earlier that Zelenskyy will not visit Serbia this week, but Kachka is expected to travel to Belgrade.
Serbian broadcaster N1 had previously reported, citing sources in Belgrade, that a Ukrainian delegation was expected to visit Serbia later this week and could be headed by Zelenskyy himself.
