Zelenskyy speaks with Hungarian PM Magyar at EU summit

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Hungary's Prime Minister Péter Magyar have spoken on the sidelines of the EU summit in Brussels.

Details: In his post about the first day of the summit, Magyar did not mention a meeting with Zelenskyy. However, one of the photos he posted shows that the leaders had at least a brief conversation in the summit hall.

Magyar said that in his first speech at the EU summit, he spoke about the need for "honesty and the need to move beyond political correctness and double standards" and that he does not want "to be popular in the room or in Brussels" but wants "to represent the Hungarian people at all times".

Background:

It was reported earlier that Zelenskyy urged the European Council to accelerate the use of funds released from the European Peace Facility and approve the opening of the remaining five clusters in Ukraine's EU accession talks in June. However, it later emerged that Ukraine's hopes, and those of its supporters within the EU, for a swift opening of the remaining clusters were not reflected in the summit's conclusions.
Earlier, Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar earlier boasted that he had "struck out" swift accession from the EU summit decision.
