Details: The aircraft is a modernised version of Russia's Yak-130, which was developed in the 1990s. The upgraded version was produced by the United Aircraft Corporation, which is part of Rostec.
Russian forces claim that during its first flight, the aircraft spent 50 minutes in the air at altitudes of up to 2,000 m and speeds of up to 600 km/h.
Quote: "It has received new on-board systems, a modern radar and a substantial weapons package, including air-to-air and air-to-ground weapons."
More details: Rostec said the Yak-130 combined the capabilities of a training aircraft and a light fighter jet. Russia claims that it plans to use the aircraft to destroy ground and aerial assets, including "heavy-class drones".
Background:
- It was reported earlier that Russian forces are testing a new Sibiryachok-5 quadcopter. They claim it can operate under electronic warfare conditions and remain airborne for up to 90 minutes.
- The Russians have also presented an upgraded Supercam S180 reconnaissance drone.
