Details: The government informed the Foreign Policy Committee about the details of the package on 30 June. The package includes additional supplies of ammunition, weapons and other equipment as well as additional funding for Danish training programmes for Ukrainian troops.

"Denmark stands firmly with Ukraine. Ukraine's fight for freedom is also Europe's fight, and we cannot afford to let the Ukrainians down now, when it matters most," Danish Defence Minister Jeppe Bruus said.

Of the approximately DKK 4.4 billion (US$672.2 million), about DKK 1.3 billion (US$198.6 million) is allocated for the "Danish model", which makes it possible to finance procurement from Ukraine's defence industry.

Additional funding has also been allocated for long-range artillery ammunition.

"A new dynamic is now being observed on the battlefield in Ukraine. This does not mean we can simply relax. On the contrary, we must maintain support for Ukraine and increase pressure on Russia in order to strengthen Ukraine's negotiating position," Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen said.

Denmark has so far been among Ukraine's most active and visible supporters and has provided military assistance worth a total of about DKK 76.8 billion, or more than €10 billion, since 2022.

"Europe's defence begins in Ukraine. That is why the government is firmly determined to continue supporting Ukraine and to work with allies and partners to ensure Ukraine is in the strongest possible position, now and in the future," Bruus said.

  • Bruus visited Kyiv the day before, where he discussed the Drone Deal and new assistance for Ukraine with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
  • Ukraine's Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov and Bruus also discussed the creation of a joint anti-ballistic missile system involving Ukraine and its European partners.
