Details: Trump acknowledged that in his conversations with Putin, the Kremlin leader had promoted the idea of holding peace talks with Zelenskyy in Moscow, but the US president opposed this.
"Where would you want to meet? And he said, 'Ideally in Moscow.' I said, 'You're not going to meet in Moscow. You know, it just doesn't work. You can't do that," Trump said.
He asked everyone urging Zelenskyy to go to Moscow to "put themselves in his position," and then turned to ask what Zelenskyy himself thinks about it.
"Would you go to Moscow?" Trump asked Zelenskyy.
"It's difficult. There are a lot of Ukrainian drones in the air. It would be dangerous," Zelenskyy joked, drawing laughter from journalists.
"He [Putin] will meet, and Zelensky's gonna meet and something's gonna happen that's gonna be positive," Trump proclaimed.
Background:
- Earlier, Trump told Zelenskyy that the United States will give Ukraine the license to produce Patriot systems.
- In addition, Trump supported strikes on Russian oil refineries, explaining that this is "an escalation that can help lead to an end" of the war.
