Ukrainian tech expert posts photos of updated Russian Boomerang drone

Serhii "Flash" Beskrestnov, an adviser to the Ukrainian president and a radio technology expert, has posted photos of an updated Russian Boomerang drone.

Details: The updated Boomerang drone has notably gained a target-guidance function. The Russians have also changed the parameters for radio control.

"Target guidance, diversity reception, rapid frequency switching on the antennas and video above 6 GHz," Beskrestnov said of the update.

Russian forces use several types of Boomerang drones at the front line. One of the first versions of the FPV kamikaze drone weighed 3.1 kg and was capable of reaching speeds of around 200 km per hour, according to the War&Sanctions portal. The UAV had a stated flight altitude of up to 1 km and a range of around 5 km.

A Boomerang-E drone has also been spotted on the battlefield. This type of UAV has a maximum take-off weight of 5.8 kg and a flight range of up to 10 km. The drone's control frequency is 868-950 MHz, with video transmission at 5333-5945 MHz.
