Ukrainian company TechUnity presents domestically made cameras for ground robotic systems – photos

Ukrainian company TechUnity has presented domestically made cameras designed for use on ground robotic systems and unmanned aerial vehicles.

Details: The new products include NetView Thermal imaging cameras and NetView IP cameras with 1.7mm and 2.8mm lenses. Both models are built on a platform with an Ethernet interface and have IP65-rated housing protection. The company places particular emphasis on the use of thermal imagers.

The developers say infrared illumination on conventional cameras exposes ground drones to enemy reconnaissance UAVs, making them glow like car headlights. The thermal imaging module, by contrast, allows operators to conduct surveillance covertly, relying solely on the heat signatures given off by their targets.

NetView IP cameras transmit 2K video with a delay of up to 100ms, support AI modules and are equipped with infrared illumination with a range of up to 30 metres. The NetView Thermal model has optical stabilisation and can operate in fog, smoke or rain. The system can detect a person at a distance of up to 300 metres and a car at up to 600 metres.

In hardware terms, the cameras consist of imported components. On the software side, they run on Ukrainian-made software.

Quote: "The current level of localisation of the hardware is such that the entire component base is imported, mainly from Asia – China, Taiwan and Japan. Unfortunately, producing such components is an extremely complex technological process, so Ukraine does not manufacture the most critical elements. But this is common global practice: without software, a camera is just a set of parts. If we do not want to depend on China, we need to start by developing the software side and then, as orders scale up, move towards localising production."

More details: The new cameras work together with another of the company's products, the Jarvis onboard computer for ground robotic systems. This computing module is already being used in Ukrainian-made developments, including the Konyk One robotic platform produced by Trinity Robotics.

TechUnity's optics have already moved beyond testing grounds: the thermal imagers are being actively tested and used by the 1st Medical Battalion and Liut, a brigade of the National Police of Ukraine. The company representative said 21 Ukrainian manufacturers of ground robotic systems were already integrating these cameras into the standard configuration of their systems.
