Ukrainian F-Drones unveils new FPV strike drone for assault units

Ukrainian defence company F-Drones has unveiled a new compact F5 strike drone. The drone has been developed for close-range strikes at distances of up to 13 km.

Details: The FPV drone has a five-inch carbon frame and is designed for assault units.

"It is useful for short distances and challenging environments: forested areas, urban areas, and supporting positions and assault groups. Its principle is simple: quick set up and a quick hit," the company explained.

The F5 can carry a payload of up to 1 kg, and the manufacturer supplies the drones in two variants: one with a jam-resistant radio link and another with a fibre-optic control link that is immune to electronic warfare.

F-Drones said that in the fibre-optic configuration, the FPV drone can fly about 6 km, while the radio version has a stated tactical range of up to 13 km.

"Size directly affects logistics here: several drones can be carried in a single backpack, while a ground robotic system can deliver nine to a position at once," the manufacturer said.

The new strike drone is equipped with an Opera electronic initiation board and has been codified by Ukraine's Defence Ministry.

F-Drones is a defence company specialising in the development and production of unmanned aerial vehicles. Among its flagship products is the F10 strike drone, which in March 2026 became the second Ukrainian finalist in the first stage of the US Pentagon's Drone Dominance programme. The company also manufactures Litavr interceptor drones.

Background: F-Drones sent 2,000 F10 strike drones to the US after Ukraine's State Service of Export Control issued a permit for their export on 1 July.
