Ukrainian military shows their drone strike on Nebo-U radar at Russia's Millerovo airfield – photo, video

Drone operators from the 429th Separate Brigade of Unmanned Systems Akhilles have struck a Russian Nebo-U radar system at the Millerovo airfield in Rostov Oblast.

Details: The attack was carried out by the brigade's long-range strike unit from 170 kilometres from the line of contact. The Russian military uses the Millerovo airfield to launch Shahed-type drones and other types of attack and decoy drones.

"This location is used to carry out aerial terror against the eastern, central and northern regions of Ukraine," the brigade explained.

The strike on the radar was carried out with a Ukrainian RAM-2X kamikaze drone.

The Russian Nebo-U three-coordinate VHF-band radar station is designed to detect and track aerial targets, including aircraft, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles. The antenna height is 43 metres, and the radar's pulse power is 500 kW (average power 5 kW). The estimated cost of the Nebo-U is US$100 million.

According to the brigade, following the loss of the radar, Russian forces will be unable to detect aerial targets in a timely manner within the station's operational zone.
