Ukraine's General Staff confirms strike on Russian Kasta radar worth at least US$60m

Ukraine's General Staff has confirmed that Ukrainian forces struck a Russian Kasta radar station near Vyshneve in Zaporizhzhia Oblast on 1 September.

Details: According to the General Staff, objective control confirmed strikes by attack drones on the radar's antenna and equipment vehicle.

The Kasta-2E2 (39N6) is a Russian-made mobile three-coordinate radar station designed to detect and track aerial assets at low and extremely low altitudes. The station can detect aircraft, helicopters, cruise missiles and drones and transmit data to Russian air defence command posts.

Quote: "Its detection range is 5-150 km, with an altitude range of up to 6 km. The detection range for a small-sized UAV flying at an altitude of 60 m is 30-44 km, depending on the height of the antenna mast, which can be raised to 50 m.

The estimated cost of the station, depending on its configuration, is at least US$60 million."
