Two people killed in Russian missile strike on ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih steel plant

Two employees of contractor organisations have been killed in a Russian missile strike on ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih steel plant. Two employees have also been injured.

Details: The attack damaged the plant's production and auxiliary facilities. Experts are assessing the damage and the possibility and timeframe for recovery.

After the strike, the company activated its emergency response plan. Firefighters, emergency workers, medics and health and safety specialists are working at the scene.

Search and rescue operations are ongoing. Those injured are receiving treatment in medical facilities in Kryvyi Rih.

Background:

• On the night of 15-16 August, a Russian missile strike damaged ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih's key production facilities in the plant's energy and blast furnace operations, forcing some production processes to be suspended.
• A plant employee who had been seriously injured in that attack later died in hospital. In total, the August strike claimed the lives of three people, while 18 employees and contractors were injured.
