Zelenskyy says war cannot end in win-win outcome after so many deaths

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said the war with Russia cannot end in a win-win outcome because so many people have already been killed.

Quote from Zelenskyy: "There is no 'win-win' in this war. It can't be so because of so many human losses. It stopped being win-win on the first day of this war.

The most important victory for everybody – not [only] for Ukraine and Russia, it's for everybody, for the world – is peace, to stop this war."

Details: Zelenskyy had been asked whether he could envisage the kind of outcome the United States is seeking in negotiations. US presidential envoy Jared Kushner said at the annual YES forum in Kyiv on 12 September that to end the war, "we have to find the right formula that hopefully works for everyone".

In the interview, Zelenskyy reiterated that Ukraine is prepared to freeze the current front line.

Quote: "Yes, we are ready for this, we've said about it. If the Russians are ready for a ceasefire – yes, without conditions, just a ceasefire – and [talks]."
