Amstor shopping centre in Zaporizhzhia destroyed by fire following evening Russian attack – photos

The Amstor shopping centre in the city of Zaporizhzhia has been destroyed as a result of a Russian drone attack on the evening of 17 September. By the morning of 18 September, firefighters extinguished fires covering a total area of more than 10,000 sq m.

Details: The SES said a fire had broken out. The shopping centre was destroyed, and one person was injured.

Quote from the SES: "Firefighters extinguished fires covering a total area of more than 10,000 sq m. The work was complicated by constant threats of repeat enemy strikes, which forced firefighters to retreat to shelters."

More details: The Ukrainian Retailers Association said a fire had already broken out at the Amstor shopping centre in Zaporizhzhia on 11 September, when flames spread across an area of around 500 sq m.

A shop belonging to Jysk, a Danish home furnishing retailer, reported significant damage and financial losses from the 11 September attack. The chain announced it was suspending operations at its Amstor shop for an indefinite period.

The Fly Kids chain of family entertainment centres previously reported the temporary closure of its location at the Amstor shopping centre. The park has been closed since 1 September.
