Emergency power outages introduced in Kyiv for first time this season

Emergency power outages have been introduced in Kyiv on the orders of Ukrenergo, Ukraine's state-owned electricity transmission operator.

Details: DTEK did not specify the duration of the emergency outages or the reason for their introduction.

Scheduled outage timetables do not apply during emergency outages. The energy company will provide further updates if the situation changes.

Background:

• Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Sumy and Kharkiv oblasts and part of the city of Kyiv were left without power on the morning of 30 September following Russian attacks on energy facilities overnight.
• Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi later said that Russia launched large-scale strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure on the night of 29-30 September.
• It later emerged that, among other energy facilities, the Trypillia Thermal Power Plant was damaged due to a Russian attack.
