Emergency power outages begin in parts of Ukraine

Emergency power outages have been rolled out in parts of Ukraine following multiple Russian attacks on the country's energy infrastructure.

Details: Ukrenergo reported that as of 18:15, power restrictions have been implemented in parts of the city of Kyiv, as well as in Kyiv, Chernihiv and Zhytomyr oblasts. The company notes that the cause is equipment overload triggered by Russian shelling.

Energy workers are repairing the damage to bring the equipment back online. The ministry adds that the emergency outages will be lifted as soon as the situation in the power grid stabilises.

Officials urge consumers to check outage information on the official resources of their distribution system operators and to consume electricity sparingly when they have it.
