Details: Zelenskyy reiterated that Ukrainians had always been grateful for the support of the American people. However, he believes Trump's latest agreements with Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin make the US president look weak in the eyes of the world.
"Russia wants him [Trump] to be weak [...] They don't care what America thinks. They don't care about elections in the US. They really care what will be with Ukraine, because again, this is their goal. They hate Americans," he said.
Zelenskyy also stated the US-Russia agreement to supply Russian diesel fuel to US and global markets had been a tactical victory for Putin.
"Now Putin is laughing because, I mean, this is for him, a simple victory – this diesel deal. Then block Starlink. It's a simple victory. Tactical. What's going on? For example, Starlink, civilians use, that's what I said, very important for defending. But also our soldiers use Starlinks on the battlefield. Why is he laughing? Why is it's small victory for him? Why? Because he's losing on the battlefield," he added.
Background:
- SpaceX, owned by American billionaire Elon Musk, has restricted the operating speed of Starlink terminals for the Ukrainian military when on the move.
- Axios previously reported that Trump's envoys threatened to cut off intelligence sharing with Ukraine over its strikes on Russian oil refineries during talks with the Ukrainian team in Florida on Friday. On 13 October, Trump denied that the provision of US intelligence to Ukraine had been suspended.
